Kick-Off + Our Very First Book!

As a 30 year old business owner living in her home-town, it can be hard to find the time to read a new book and even harder to meet new friends. I figured that creating a book club might help to kill two birds with one stone. Back in the late summer, I posted on Instagram asking if anyone would be interested in joining said book club and much to my surprise, there was an overwhelmingly positive response! 

Fast forward to November when we hosted our very first interest meeting and nearly 25 people signed up to join! We spent some time getting to know each other and realized pretty quickly that we were all on the same - or similar - page. Folks expressed the need for accountability in reading (and finishing) a book, as well as the desire to connect with new friends. 

I plan to use this blog page to share musings from our meetings and will post the upcoming books so you can read along with us! We will meet every other month to discuss the chosen book. Our first book is The Orchid Thief, by Susan Orlean. It's a non-fiction book about the arrest of a horticulturalist who was charged for dealing rare, poached orchids in Florida. Our first meeting will be on Janurary 15 and you are more than welcome to join!
